May 12, 2011 Dance

This was our last dance before taking a summer break and probably the last dance in Oxford Hall. Mike and Alice have purchased an older house on 3/4 acre where they will build a new house and a new hall when their current property sells. Even if the Oxford house sells soon, it will be many months before they build a new dance hall.

For this final evening we danced:

Bonny Cuckoo
Ly bens distonys
Fenterlarick
Wibsey Roundabout
Childgrove
Shandy Hall
Hole in the Wall

The Houston Area Traditional Dance Society’s email reminders will include any announcement of English Country Dance resuming after the summer break. To sign up for those reminders, visit http://www.hatds.org/email-reminders.html.

November 16, 2010 Dance

After some confusion about the date of the November dance, which had to be changed because of a scheduling conflict with the hall, we had a really fun dance. We did:

  • Take a Dance
  • Auretti’s Dutch Skipper
  • Candles in the Dark (taught by John Bloom)
  • The Touchstone
  • Juice of Barley
  • Fenterlarick

We used The Touchstone to practice crossover heys, and practice we did! See the instructions for The Touchstone (under the Dance Instructions menu) for details about “our version” of this fun dance.

The December dance is back on the 2nd Thursday. We hope to see you there!
