HATDS is a membership organization, although membership is not required for attendance at our dances.
Dues support the administration of HATDS such as web hosting, name badges, supplies for the dances, insurance, sound equipment maintenance and replacement, and equipment storage costs. Dues also provide us with a cushion when dances do not break even, as is often the case.
In return for their support, members receive a discount at regular contra dances and at Bayou Bedlam. Members also receive special newsletters and a name tag for use at the dances, can opt-in to text alerts, have voting privileges, and may serve on our board and organizing committees.
Membership is limited to adults age 18 or older, with discounts given for students and seniors.
The HATDS membership year is September 1st through August 31st. Memberships created or renewed in August are effective immediately and are good through the following August.
Membership Rates
Full year (September through August):
Individual: $20.00
Household: $30.00
Senior (65+), student (18-25) with ID: $10.00
Senior Household: $15.00
Half year: (if joining after February):
Individual: $10.00
Household: $15.00
Senior (65+), student (18-25) with ID: $5.00
Senior Household: $7.50
To qualify for the Senior Household rate, one member of that household must be 65 or older.
How to Join
All memberships must be entered and paid online using a credit or debit card or a PayPal account. We no longer accept paper forms or take cash or checks for memberships.
If you are a lapsed member and arrive at a contra dance, you have two choices:
Pay the non-member price and join online later.
Step aside and join on your phone, show the confirmation page or email to the door manager, and then pay the member admission price.
